bill_sharpI’m Bill Zipp and I help small and mid-size companies accelerate the growth of their business by expanding their leadership capacity.

Since 2002, I’ve spent thousands of hours working with hundreds of business leaders worldwide, from Fortune 500 companies like Automatic Data Processing, Cisco Systems, and Agrium, Inc. to more entrepreneurial firms like Concur Technologies, Extra Mile Media, and Tunnel Radio of America.

In the process, the growth small and mid-size companies has become both my professional expertise and my personal passion.

What is a Small and Mid-size Company?

Small and mid-size companies are the heart and soul of the economic engine that drives the business world today. They create more jobs, produce more patents, and generate more wealth than any other business segment.

Referred to as an SMB, a small and medium-sized business, or an SME, a small and medium-sized enterprise, a small and mid-size company is a firm with 5 – 500 employees. They comprise 39% of all companies in the United States and employ 44% of all its people.

Small and mid-size companies have unique challenges. You’re no longer dealing with issues related to survival, but neither have you become a complete success. In other words, you still need to grow–and grow at a robust rate–to be financially strong.

Another unique challenge has to do with people.

Because you compete in an crowded marketplace against bigger and better funded competitors, you have little margin for error. What this means is that every person on your team, from executive leaders to front line staff, needs to be fully committed to your cause and able to do their job at the highest levels of excellence. In short, you need to be organizationally sound.

This is what I help my clients achieve.

My Background

My business roots are in commercial radio where I was the fastest in my company to reach a million dollars in radio advertising sales. As sales manager, the stations nearly doubled their direct sales revenue under my leadership.

I eventually became President and General Manager of the station group, where we continued to experience repeated annual growth. During this time I also received national recognition from the Radio Advertising Bureau for my contribution to the field of Non-Traditional Revenue development.

Since 2002, I’ve spent thousands of hours working with hundreds of business leaders worldwide, from Fortune 500 companies like Automatic Data Processing, Cisco Systems, and Agrium, Inc. to more entrepreneurial firms like Concur Technologies, Extra Mile Media, and Tunnel Radio of America.

I’m married to my lovely (and patient) wife, Denise, and have three adult children: Beckie, Ricky, and Renee. I live in Corvallis, Oregon, home of Oregon State University and the beloved orange and black of the Oregon State Beavers.
